Vintage Japanese crackle glaze ceramic bowl featuring hand-painted traditional motifs.
The bowl features a classic off-white or beige base adorned with a distinct crackle glaze (kannyu 貫入) finish. The rim is accented with a soft blue underglaze border while the interior is hand-painted with auspicious everyday harvest vegetables common in Japanese ceramics: a large blue Japanese eggplant (nasu) on the left and a pink/purple turnip or radish (kabu) on the right.
This style of household ceramic was widely produced and exported out of major Japanese kilns (such as Mino or Akatsu ware) during the 1960s to early 1980s.
