Often referred to as a frilled or pie-crust edge shade, typically used for hanging pendant lights, wall sconces, or boudoir lamps, it most likely dates from the mid-20th century (late 1940s–early 1970s). The style mimics late Victorian opaline glass or art nouveau shapes, which saw a major retro-revival during the mid-century Hollywood. The shade is crafted from semi-opaque milk glass or white cased glass. It features a heavily flared, hand-blown undulating ruffled edge finished with a painted gold/gilt trim ring accentuating the curves. The narrow collar at the base is designed to fit a standard clamp or screw-fitter gallery.
