This charming, bulbous item is a Japanese ceramic Maneki-neko, manufactured as a coin/piggy bank. It features distinctive dual-raised paws, which traditionally symbolize a double blessing: the right paw attracts wealth and fortune, while the left paw draws in customers or good relationships.

The cat wears a ruffled fabric collar with a small gold bell, an aesthetic signature of the famous Japanese craft line Nekosha Dorakudo Honpo (貓舍道樂堂本鋪). Painted on its belly is a vibrant takarabune (traditional Japanese treasure ship) flying a sail printed with the kanji for treasure (寶). It carries coral and a purple drawstring fortune pouch (fukubukurou).

It is roughly 30 years The Nekosha Dorakudo Honpo series was incredibly popular in Japan as collectible gifts and souvenirs throughout the late 1990s.
