Qing Dynasty rice bowls – minyao: Genuine Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) bowls likely locally made in northern Taiwan, and once a treasured item of a poor farming family in the Sanzhi District on the north coast where they were found. These items have fading, poor quality blue dye used in the baking process which identifies them as ‘minyao’ – made for commoners. At some point they have been marked with the characters XX and XX for XX and XX, an indication of how important they once were to a long-dead couple.
